The Joshua Tree

The Clovelly Court Gardens on the UK North Devon Coast is an Award Winning Royal Horticultural Society partner garden.  Within it's walled garden and beautifully restored Victorian glasshouses there is an array of trees, flowers, fruit and vegetables lovingly grown.  Both The Red Lion and New Inn pubs in Clovelly Village are supplied with fresh fruit and vegetable produce...and the famous Clovelly donkeys provide the garden with manure. 

Walking through the gardens is always a restorative and calming experience for me.  On leaving the gardens on this particular summer's day, I was struck by the wonderful canopy of heart shaped leaves of the Joshua tree which provided refreshing shade from the hot sun near the entrance gate and I just had to paint the scene!  

Artist quality paints and materials used.  The painting is framed in a modern 'floating' wooden frame.
