Winter is a time of year when nature seems to be hibernating and things seem to have slowed down.  The days are mostly gloomy and grey so that when the sunshine comes peeking through the clouds, it's a beautiful reminder that Spring will be with us again.  As Winter in the Northern Hemisphere coincides with the beginning of the new year, it seems to be more poignant that I find myself feeling a little sad but also while reflecting on the past year, making plans for what I want to yet achieve.

Having had a health scare the week before Christmas, it really made me realise that there is still SO much I want to do!!  I'm always wanting to improve my art and so this year I will be taking the time to learn more practical techniques by joining an online course...or two!  I already have bought some books on composition, abstract art and colour...there's always something new to learn :)

As my mum taught me needlework from an early age and I find cross stitching very calming, I'm looking forward to doing more.  I recently completed this cute Baby Girl Card which will be given to my granddaughter when she has her first baby...very soon now.

For my newsletter subscribers, they get to have first choice of new paintings each month.  These paintings are not on my main website until the following month.  This year I have started January with a discount code they can use and a new series of postcard sized cocktail paintings called Flirty Tipsy Cocktails.  They're a contour line drawing in ink, which means that the drawing is done without looking at the paper, but only looking at the object as I'm drawing.  I then add some luscious colour using watercolour paint.  These are so much fun for me to create!  Here's a couple for you to see.

Another first for me this year, is the fact that I have started this blog!  Each month I'll share with you the artworks I've been working on and some of my musings along the way.  If you want to leave me a comment, want to ask me anything about my artwork etc, then please do!

Whatever you do in 2022, I hope you will achieve all you want and have fun along the way :)
